Is this thing on?

Yikes! It’s been a while but I thought I might give it another go - with Twitter, Facebook et al being such dominant forces in my online existence I thought I should get back to where it all started. For me at least.

Er…so anyway, today saw the long-awaited commencement of the building of our house extension, and what a glorious day for it it was. Brilliant sunshine, cloudless skies, and a host of blooming daffodils signalled, if not the arrival, then an arrival of sorts, of springtime.

BeforeBefore construction on any project can begin there is generally an element of destruction. In this case it was the removal of what has for the last two years been my home-office - a brick and tile lean-to that once served as a downstairs lavatory and rear entrance (how wrong does that sound?). It being my office meant that I have spent the last few months preparing one half our garden shed into new office premises from which I can tele-work by way of computational devices and internets but that’s a whole other post.

DuringThe extension itself is a simple two-storey box comprising new living room area downstairs and 2 new bedrooms upstairs, plus a bit of remodelling to combine two existing bedrooms to become one master bedroom with an on-suite. Whilst it was always our plan to add an extra bedroom to this house, we have never actually been able to raise the funds before now (I could tell you how we finally managed it but then I’d have to kill you) so the excitement of this all finally starting to happen is collossal.

AfterNow that I’ve started blogging it I’ll do my level-best to continue the narrative in the hope that the whole (successful) project comes to gether in one big, jolly Interweb story that even if no-one else reads, I know my mum will.
